Now let’s get to the main event!

Let's talk something that's probably keeping you up at night… summer is here, and you're staring at your vacation plans with that familiar pit in your stomach. Do I post or do I just relax?

I used to think this was an either/or situation and I'd feel guilty for wanting to log on while I was away. We all deserve time off, but if you're like me, completely unplugging can sometimes cause more stress than staying connected.

So now, I give myself permission to do what's best for me, and that's finding a happy medium between pre-planning and intentionally checking in while I'm away.

Let's dive into the exact systems that let me stay present during time off without going completely MIA (or losing my mind) 😅

The Batch Day That Changed Everything

Two weeks before any trip, I now block out one entire day for what I call "content bootcamp." I'm talking snacks, a good playlist, phone on do not disturb, and zero meetings. In 6-8 hours, I create 2-3 weeks of content and schedule everything I can ahead of time. I also get ahead on any recurring tasks that would drain my energy while away. Yes, it feels intense, but nothing beats the freedom of watching your posts go live while I'm exploring a new city!

Stop Pretending You're Not Human

Here's what nobody tells you: your audience actually wants to see you take breaks. Some of my highest-performing content has been travel posts! Share behind-the-scenes moments from running your business remotely, lessons learned while exploring new cities, or honest thoughts about rest. People connect with real humans, not work machines.

The 15-Minute Rule

I schedule everything in advance, but here's where the balance comes in: I still show up for 15 minutes every other day to engage with comments and sort my email. Not hours of working, just quick check-ins. Could you do more? Sure. Should you do more? Maybe. But this gives a nice balance of checking in so your audience feels heard, and you're not completely MIA.

Summer = Permission to Post Less

Plot twist: summer is perfect for experimenting with lower posting frequency. Everyone's busy with their own vacations and summer plans. One killer post per week beats seven mediocre ones you stressed over while trying to enjoy that perfect moment around a campfire! 🔥

Your Content Emergency Kit

Keep 3-5 evergreen posts ready to go for those "oh crap" moments when plans change or you need extra breathing room. Think of your greatest hits or timeless advice that always performs well. It's like content insurance. Have a great blog post from the past? Turn it into a carousel. Is the great post already a carousel? Turn it into an infographic.

Build out a library of these posts that you can tweak and schedule so you’re ready to post when you need to take a break.

Give Yourself Permission

Here's the truth: your creator business won't collapse if you post less for a week. The goal isn't perfect consistency while you're wandering through foreign markets or recharging in the woods. It's creating systems that let you truly enjoy your time off without abandoning your audience completely.

Trust me, your followers will appreciate seeing that you actually practice what you preach about work-life balance!

Whatever you choose to do this summer, make sure it’s what’s best for you!

💜

I’d love your opinion:

Would you read a weekly round up too?

I'm considering adding a round up email each week. The theme will change and would be things like "Best Sponsored Content of the Week", "Tools You Need for Your Creator Business", "Creators You Should be Following"

Login or Subscribe to participate in polls.

This is normally where the ad break goes (& this is an ad) however, I would’ve shared this resource for free & I cannot wait to attend this! Register for the Beehiiv Creator Business Summit below
